Flatiron District

\

dress (under $20) | wedges | necklace

Living outside of Boston, I have made my fair share of trips to New York City, however I had never made it to the Flatiron District before. The the architecture of the building is so interesting and creates an eye catching point in this cute section of the city. New York is such a busy city bustling with commuters and tourists and this area, which also includes Madison Square Park, is completely the opposite. I was staying near Times Square and let me just put it out there: I hate that bright light, people packed area of Manhattan. Naturally coming to the Flatiron District was a sigh of relief and I could walk around and enjoy the scenery. Across the street from the Flatiron building is a place called Eataly. I would aquatint it to Faneuil Hall in Boston, except instead of varied places it is all different Italian counters with various types of food. If you find yourself in NYC definitely stop in a check it out!

When packing for this quick trip to the city I actually tried to pack just the necessities and for the first time in a very long time I was very successful! I knew that it was going to be very hot, so I packed mostly skirts, loose tops, and dresses. I have never really been a fan of black (especially in the summer), however recently I have been acquiring a few new black items that I am loving. I actually picked up this dress at Target and it is so comfortable and versatile. I wore it out to dinner on the first night of my trip and then again wandering around the city on my last day. The dress is a swing style, so it's very flowy. To be completely honest, I just tossed on these wedges to take pictures. I wore my silver jacks when I did most of the walking. These wedges are probably one of the best bargains I have ever stumbled upon. They retailed for $70 at Gap and I got them for $9.99! This look is extremely basic but so perfect for summer in the city!
