Happy New Year!

I just wanted to do a quick post to bring in 2014 and wish everyone a happy new year! 2013 has been such a great year for us, the past seven months have been an incredible journey. We started the blog last summer as something to do on Cape Cod, never realizing what a great experience it would be! We have been so lucky to collaborate with a few different companies (and we have an upcoming giveaway!) This month in particular has brought so many new follower and views to our page, Thank you to all! Looking forward to an even better 2014!

I only have two pictures for this blog post because my camera was not working very well.

My family and I are In Vermont for New Years and we went to a bonfire so, my outfit is pretty casual. I thought that I would bring out my sequin shirt from J. Crew because it definately screamed New Years to me. To add an extra layer I paired the shirt with a grey cashmere cardigan from J. Crew Factory and of course my monogrammed necklace.

If you have a blog post about what you wore for New Years Eve definately leave the link in the comments! I love looking at what other people wore, especially to fancy parties!

Happy New Year!

Fair Isle Fun

One of my favorite prints this year has been fair isle so, I was so excited to receive this Vineyard Vines sweater for Christmas! Our last post was about 2013 "Preppy Trends" and I have definitely been obsessed with mixing patterns. Last year I would have never paired gingham, polka dots and faire isle together but, now I think it looks so cute! I hope everyone enjoys the last days of 2013!

This view is so breath taking, definitely a great place to take blog pictures!

Colored cords are definitely one of my winter favorites and these hot pink ones make a great statement!

My monogrammed necklace has definitely been a recent favorite and I would say it was a great investment!
Last year for Christmas I got Bean Boots and completely fell in love with them so, this year for my birthday I asked for duck shoes from L.L. Bean. These shoes are so practical for crummy weather and they are super easy to slide on and off. The only thing that I was unhappy with was the sizing. I normally wear a size 8.5 (my bean boots are a size 8) so, I ordered an 8 in the duck shoes as well. When I opened the box on my birthday and tried the shoes on they were HUGE so, I had to return them for a size 7. If you are thinking about ordering these make sure to go a full size to a size and a half down, otherwise the shoes are great!

Preppy Trends 2013

I decided to make a Polyvore of my favorite preppy trends of 2013!  Choosing what to put on the list was difficult as there were so many good fashion statements this year, but I carefully chose what I think were the best ones. Enjoy!

Preppy Trends 2013
1.  Quilted vests- They have been huge this year! Plain colors such as sand, navy and black along with patterns such as stripe and herringbone were major sellers at J. Crew.  They add character to your outfit and personalize your style!

2. Boots- Riding boots in both dark and light leather have been so popular and add class and sophistication to your outfit.  They go with almost anything and brands such as Frye are so stylish!  And, of course, Bean Boots are both cute and practical as they are good for dreary winter weather.

3. Dark nail polish- My favorite Essie colors this year consisted of deep reds, dark blues, and metallic such as gold and pewter.  Especially good for winter, these versatile colors were popular.  Will they be next year too?

4. J. Crew Chino Shorts- These shorts are adorable and timeless.  I own a few (okay A LOT!) of pairs as they are good for the golf course, shopping downtown, or just relaxing on a summer day.

5. Boot Socks- These decorative socks have been so trendy this year! Worn with bean boots, short boots, or even tall riding boots these socks add pattern and style.

6. Lacoste Polos- Classic summer tops in a variety of colors that show your preppy sophistication and will never go out of style.

7. Flannels- Not only are they comfortable, but a major trend of 2013.  Cute, slouchy, and plaid, flannels from LL Bean and occasionally J. Crew have been top sellers and are perfect for a lazy day at school.

8. Pearls- These pearls (pictured from J. Crew and Kate Spade) are not only statement pieces but give your look a cool vintage-like feel.  I'm seeing them more and more in stores and around town and girls wearing them more.

9. Decorative Sweater- Jeweled sweaters are definitely a trend of 2013 as this was the first year I've seen them in stores and I love them.  Also new and popular this year are sweaters with pictures (like the J. Crew skier sweater pictured.)

10. Jack Rogers- Although they have been around forever, I saw more Jack Rogers this summer than ever before. In a variety of colors and styles these are my go to summer shoes.

11. Lululemon Leggings- I wish I could wear my leggings everyday!  These pants are comfortable and easy to match with an oversized sweater, socks and bean boots.

12. Sperrys- The more natural styles have been especially popular this year, but these classic shoes are a must-have piece for your wardrobe.

13. Bright Lilly Patterns- I loved Lilly's new summer patterns this year! They're always so bright, pretty, and preppy and make for cutest summer dresses around!

14. Coats- Wax coats similar to those from Barbour have been so popular this fall and winter! I have one myself (from Jack Wills) and it's definitely my go-to jacket.  Also, dark colored quilted jackets are so classy and were a spring and fall trend this year.

15. Colored Cords- I love corduroy pants because they go with everything and now come in a variety of colors! Stores like Madewell and J. Crew have made cords in green, burgundy, and pink; all colors that I love to wear!

So, after reading this very long post ;), do you agree or disagree with my thoughts on trends? Do you think these fashions will withstand the test of time? Overall, it was been a great year for preppy fashion and I can't wait for an even better 2014!

Weather for a Jeweled Sweater

For Christmas, I was beyond excited to get a jeweled sweater (I had been looking at this one for a long time!)  I couldn't wait to show it on the blog!  I went down to the oceanside to take pictures today and it felt so good so breathe in the salt air!

Bracelets to compliment the jewels on the sweater.

I'm in love with the jewels!

My hunters are often my go-to boots even when its not raining.

These Kate Spade earrings are my new favorite piece of jewelry.

Enjoying Vacation!

Pearls and Gold in the Cold

Once again it's snowing and I am outside freezing trying to get some good pictures for the blog! I went skiing today so, I had to rush home to change and take pictures before it got dark (I hate how early it gets at night! Not helpful for a blogger!) Anyways, back to the blogging! This year emerald green has been fairly popular and I absolutely love it! I went into Target with my mom a few weeks ago to get some stocking stuffers and stumbled upon this sweater! Typically Target does not have the best clothing but this sweater is too cute and the quality is so great especially for $12! I hope everyone had a great Christmas!

I am loving this "arm candy"

Who doesn't love pearls and monograms!

For Christmas this year, my big gift was a Canon Rebel T3i! I am looking forward to improving the quality of the pictures on the blog now!

J. Crew has so many great socks to go with bean boots!

Cape Clasp

When I went to get the mail today, I was so excited to see that my package from Cape Clasp had arrived! On sunday I was contacted by them, the turn around was fast and we could not be more lucky to have the chance to work with them! I want to give them a huge thank you for the amazing bracelets!

Cape Clasp is a Massachusetts based company that makes rope bracelets with a "Cape Clasp".  Everything from their company is made in the USA and I think this is always a plus! Cape Clasp also donates 15% of all profits to protect the Cape Cod National Seashore, which is constantly struggling with erosion problems.

My entire life I have spent my summers on Cape Cod so, it definitely has a special place in my heart. I can't wait to see my friends and family that I spend the summer with and tell them about this awesome company!

Julianna and I both chose the "Blue Whale" at Cape Clasp. The bracelet is very good quality and navy is such a versatile color for all seasons!

Of course I had to go outside in this crazy snow storm to snap a picture!

I absolutely love the intricate detail on the back of the clasp

The other styles available

I would definitely check out capeclasp.com their bracelets would be the perfect gift for anyone who spends time on Cape Cod. With their quick shipping they might be able to arrive by the holidays! make sure to check out their Instagram, @capeclasp

Disclaimer- the bracelets were sent to me but all opinions are my own!

Thanks again Cape Clasp!
