Snacks for School

Now that we are back in school, packing a lunch is once again part of my daily routine. I am definitely a snacker, so it is important to try to make them as healthy as possible. I bring either a fruit or vegetable to go with lunch and then some sort of carb. Carrots and hummus or apples with peanut butter are two of my favorite combos. I love fruits and vegetables, so I typically just pack something that is in season. As for sports, I always toss some sort of granola bar into my bag to quickly eat before practice starts. These are all great snacks and lots of them come in the small 100 calorie packs that are so convenient. What are your favorite snacks for school?

What's In My Backpack

This summer completely flew by and somehow we have made it to the first day of school. Although I am dreading the actual classes, I love to go school supplies shopping and getting all organized. I like to see how other people organize their backpacks and see what they use for their classes, so I thought I would share what's in my backpack. I have had this North Face Borealis Backpack since my freshman year and it has held up so well. I opted for the black so that it would not look super dirty after a few weeks. I can fit so much in here and the separate pockets work well for organizational purposes.

+Front Pocket
The front pocket has many little compartments in it. The two main things in this pocket are my agenda and pencil case. I keep le pens for my agenda, bic mechanical pencils, pilot pens, poppin pens, highlighters, and a mini whiteout in my pencil case. I always make sure to have a Tide Stain Stick in my backpack because you never know when you might spill something. Finally, I keep my phone and graphing calculator in the compartments.

+Main Pocket
Behind the front pocket is the large main section in which I keep all my notebooks and binders. This year I have one 1.5" binder with divider tabs for each class. In here I keep all my handouts to stay organized. I have a 1 subject notebook for math, a 3 subject notebook for AP language, and a 3 subject notebook for US History, Biotech, and French. Personally, I prefer notebooks as they are much more compact and you don't have to use filler paper.

+Etc.
I always have my camelbak water bottle in one of the side pockets. It is so important to stay hydrated throughout the day, especially if you have sports after school. There is a tiny pocket in the front and I usually keep a little bit of cash, hair elastics, chapstick, and a granola bar for after school in there.

What are your backpack necessities?

White on White

top | white jeans (similar) | sandals

Happy Labor Day, I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend! I am honestly in disbelief that I head back to school tomorrow and begin my junior year. Anyways, today is the last official day to wear white and of course I went for the all white look. I don't really know if it is technically a color, however white is my all time favorite color to sport during the summer months. It is so flattering with a tan and so crisp and simple. I purchased this blue and white embroidered top from Forever 21 earlier this summer and pretty much wore it to death. The boxy cut is so comfortable and the blue detailing adds a fun pop of color. This look has been a go-to for me this summer, I wore it a few times in Italy and on cooler nights on the Cape. Enjoy the last true weekend of summer!

Summer Recap

As the summer days have been dwindling down, I have started to reflect on everything I did over the past few months. Summer 2015 was a crazy, action packed, adventurous, and fun filled summer. I was so lucky to have been able to do lots of traveling and see lots of friends. This summer was filled with a lot of firsts. I went to Europe for the first time, my family got our first boat, I explored different parts of NYC for the first time, and it was the first time in years that I did not go to camp. With all of these new experiences, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and was able to do so many things I never thought I would. I became much more comfortable traveling in big cities, learned to deal with language barriers, and gained a new sense of independence this summer. Although I am bummed to see it all come to an end, I would not change anything about these past few months and can't wait to see what this school year has in store.
