Scallops and Southern Sunsets

While on vacation, we went to a restaurant that was right on a pier at sunset.  I had to take advantage of the beautiful scenery and take a few quick pictures for the blog! This was the first time that I broke out some Lilly this year, so I was excited to see the fun patterns again! Elephant ears is such an adorable print and this year I am obsessed with anything scalloped, so naturally I am in love with the shorts!

Don't mind my legs, I look like a lobster....

There is just something so nice about a Southern sunset

Seaside Simple

Over spring break I made it back to the ocean for some fun blog pictures.  But much to my dismay, I was not sitting in the sun enjoying myself (like Catherine in Alabama) but instead walking along the shoreline in a windbreaker and jeans.  Honestly though, I can't complain. I got to enjoy the beach and collect all kinds of ocean treasure this vacation.  I can wait a few more months for warm weather in New England, and this vacation foreshadowed the beach weather and lazy summer days that are right around the corner

I recently bought another pair of Sperrys.  This time  I went traditional and bought the classic style and color.  I couldn't be more happy with my purchase... and they were on sale!

It was very windy out.  My hair was flying all over the place and if you look closely, you can see white caps on the waves in the background.

I adore my Vineyard Vines Shep Shirt.  I love to wear mine over a polo when golfing or to school when I'm being a little lazy with my outfit planning.  I love the corduroy accents on the shoulders and the mint and navy color combination

Picturesque isn't it?  I'm so lucky to live near the ocean.

Alabama Adventures

For Spring Break my family ventured down to the coast of Alabama to soak up the sun and enjoy some nice Southern Living. We booked a very early flight and arrived in Mobile at around 10 am. Being a Northern girl, Alabama always seemed like one of those random states in the middle of the country, but I was most definitely wrong! On our way to the beach, we stopped in Fairhope, an adorable little town with lots of great shops and delicious restaurants. I fell in love with this little Alabama town very quickly and would highly recommend stopping bye if you are ever in the area. Here are a few pictures from my afternoon outing!

This fountain is stunning and it looks out over the beach as well!

The landscaping was so nice, of course I had to stop and smell the roses :)

I love this colorful mural downtown, it is so eye-catching!

Coming from NYC I tried to dress so that I could transition my outfit to adjust to the heat, but I was dying in my jeans (a first since early September) and actually got a little bit of a sunburn on my shoulders.

For lunch we went to a place called Panini Pete's and I got the fresh mozzarella and tomato Panini. The atmosphere was so beautiful and everyone was so friendly. I am so glad that we stopped in Fairhope and thanks to Dorothy from Prep In Your Step for the recommendations!

We Love Lilly

A trip to In The Pink is definitely one of our favorite things to do when strolling the streets of Cape Cod. We have spent hours (literally) in there just trying on all of the gorgeous dresses. We had so much fun trying everything on today and are looking forward to spring days ahead spent in our favorite Lilly items!

"Anything is possible with sunshine and a little pink!"

We both pulled out our Jack Rogers for the first time today!

Some of the Spring Collection!

There was bad lighting in the dressing room, but I am in LOVE with the green seersucker dress! Both Julianna and I tried on the shift dress and it is adorable!

Preppy at the Pier

We're back!  Finally, Catherine and I have made it back to the sea! On the downside, it's pretty cold out (okay more like freezing) but the salt air and ocean are making up for the crummy weather.  Our school vacation starts this week and we had today off as well-which was awesome- and we had some time to blog!

Bloggers by the sea!

Getting into this boat was a bit of a struggle...

Vibrant colors even on a cloudy day stand out!  I love this pink spring color.

Sperrys complete any spring look.  The classic style is definitely our favorite look for any season; versatile and cute!

Crazy About Croakies

Just a quick post! With Spring break starting tomorrow for my school and summer just around the corner, it's time to bring back the croakies. There is nothing that stresses me out more at the beach or on a boat than losing my sunglasses, so croakies are my best friend in the summer! Here are a few of my favorites, not only are they practical but they are also a super cute accessory.

I have the Lilly Pulitzer and Southern Tide ones and am loving the Striped Southern Marsh and Southern Sailor! Which croakies are your favorite?

Let's Get Crafty!

I have been trying to come up with some cute DIY projects to put on the blog and the time has finally arrived! Continue reading this post to learn how to make Lilly Pulitzer inspired picture frames and monogrammed mason jars to hold your make up brushes, all under ten dollars!

Part One: Lilly Pulitzer Picture Frame

I have been lusting over the Lilly Pulitzer sorority picture frames, unfortunately I am still in high school and am not in a sorority. I knew that I could easily create a similar fame using what ever pattern I wanted, so this weekend I put my crafting skills to the test! Get Nauti is one of my favorite Lilly patterns and it matches my room, so naturally it was the pattern that I chose for my project. These picture frames are a quick and adorable project that would make the perfect gift.

What You Need
1. Picture Frame
2. Modge Podge
4. Scissors
5. Paint Brush
3. Print out the pattern you want to use

Step One: take the pain brush and paint modge lodge on the area you will be pasting the printed out pattern. Repeat this step until you have completely covered all four sides of the picture frame.

Step Two: Once all four sides have been pasted down, smooth out all of the sides. Next, Take the paint brush and lightly dap mode podge on top of the paper to create a glossy finish.

Part Two: Monogrammed Mason Jars for Make Up Brushes

I have used mason jars to hold my make up brushes for such a long time, but I decided that I needed to make them a little more creative and add a "personal" twist. To make a monogram that you can print out, I suggest using the Marley Lilly app, you can customize the patterns, fonts and colors! I picked up the adorable anchor ribbon at Michaels.

What You Need
1. Mason Jar
2. Image of your monogram
3. Modge Podge
4. Paint Brush
5. Ribbon

Step One: Paste the monogram onto the mason jar
(I suggest putting some newspaper down so that you don't get glue all over your table)

Step Two: Gently dap more modge podge so that the color does not smudge
Step Three: Add a ribbon to complete the project!

Let us know if you make either of these projects, we would love to see your final product!

Catherine
